Japantown (Nihonmachi) is one of only three remaining Japantowns in the United States, centered on the Peace Pagoda and the Japan Center mall on Post Street.
Over the 90 days ending June 2026, the SFPD recorded 90 crime incidents in Japantown, about 14% more than the previous 90 days. The most common were larceny theft and malicious mischief.
